The Correct Way To Wear a Disposable Mask

Feb. 25, 2020

A battle without gunpowder made masks the best "new year's goods" for this Spring Festival. But do you know the correct way to wear a mask? A medical non-woven fabric supplier takes disposable masks as an example, and briefly talks about the correct wearing method of masks.

Disposable face mask are generally divided into three layers, and the outermost and innermost layers are made of non-woven fabric. Both layers play a role in blocking pollutants and supporting the mask itself. The most important layer in the mask structure is the middle filter layer, which is composed of filter cloth, with high fiber density and small pores, which can block small pollutants and bacteria.

Disposable Masks

Face Mask

Based on the who interim guidelines for the prevention and control of infectious epidemics and pandemic acute respiratory diseases in health care:

1. Cover the nose and mouth carefully with a mask and fasten it to minimize the gap between the face and the mask;

2. Avoid touching the mask during use-after touching the used mask, for example, when removing the mask, wash your hands with soapy water or alcohol hand sanitizer;

3. After the mask is wet or contaminated with moisture, put on a new clean and dry mask;

4. Do not reuse disposable masks. Disposable masks should be discarded after each use and disposed of immediately after removal.

Here are the specific steps.

The first step is to distinguish between positive and negative and up and down

The mask is divided into front and back, top and bottom, the front color is darker, the reverse color is lighter, the red circle is on the top, and there is a metal clip inside the nose.

Step two, wash your hands

You need to wash your hands before wearing a mask, because the mask is relatively sterile. If your hands are dirty, touch the mask. The dirt on your hands will get on the mask, and the mask will be worn white.

The third step is to put on

Make sure that the face of the mask is facing inwards and the metal strip is facing up, and hang the rope on each ear.

The fourth step, compaction and stretching

Use both hands to press the metal strips on both sides of the bridge of the nose so that the upper end of the mask is close to the bridge of the nose, and then stretch the mask downward so that the mask does not leave wrinkles and better cover the nose and mouth.

The correct wearing method can prevent the gas from entering and exiting from both sides of the bridge of the nose, thereby exerting the filtering and ventilation functions of the mask, protecting yourself and protecting others.

How often do masks need to be replaced?

It should be emphasized that no matter what type of mask, the protective effect is limited and needs to be replaced regularly. It is best to replace it every 2 to 4 hours.

If it is used for a long time, large particles will be blocked on the surface of the mask or ultra-fine particles will block the gap of the filter material of the mask, which will cause the filtration efficiency to decrease and the respiratory resistance to increase.
