The Difference Between Medical Nonwovens And Ordinary Nonwovens

Dec. 24, 2019

In recent years, the growth rate of world demand for nonwovens has always been higher than the growth of the global economy. Global non-woven production is mainly concentrated in the United States, accounting for 41% of the world's total, 30% in Western Europe, 8% in Japan, 3.5% in China, and 17.5% in other regions. In the end application of non-woven fabrics, hygienic absorbent products (especially diapers) have the fastest growth. Medical textiles, automotive textiles, footwear and artificial leather markets have also witnessed rapid development. China's nonwovens industry started late, but has developed very rapidly. In the early 1980s, output was less than 10,000 tons. In the middle and late 1990s, China set off a climax in the development of non-woven products. In addition to domestic production lines, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and other provinces have also introduced production lines from abroad. The development speed of China's non-woven fabrics greatly exceeds the average development rate of the textile industry, and it grows at a high speed of 8-10% each year, and is the fastest growing industry in the textile industry.

There are mainly two types of non-woven fabrics currently on the market, one is ordinary non-woven fabric and the other is medical non-woven fabric. Since it is mainly used in medical treatment, it has strict requirements on quality. What else is different between the two?

Disposable Medical Product

Since it is a disposable medical product, the primary criterion is antibacterial ability. Generally, a three-layer meltblown layer structure is used. The ordinary medical non-woven fabric uses a single-layer meltblown layer structure. Comparing the two, it must be The three-layer structure has stronger antibacterial ability. As for non-medical ordinary non-woven fabrics, because there is no meltblown layer, it does not have antibacterial ability.

2. Suitable for multiple sterilization methods

Now that it has antibacterial capability, it also needs to have corresponding sterilization capabilities. High-quality medical non-woven fabrics can be applied to a variety of sterilization methods. There are three types of sterilization methods: pressure steam, ethylene oxide, and hydrogen peroxide. However, ordinary non-medical non-woven fabrics cannot be applied to various sterilization methods.

3.Quality control

Medical non-woven fabrics need to pass the certification of the relevant product quality control system. In the production process, there are strict standards and requirements for each step of the product.
